Treating Acne In Adults
Erica survived acne as a teen. Since the problem went away after awhile using some over the counter products, this person and others thought this was just a phase and will never happen again.
More than 10 years later, the same signs as a teen began to show up. Knowing what to do from past experience, it was easy to go down to the supermarket and buy these products again.
Fortunately, this was treated during the early stages and the problem went away. There weren’t any scars like before so its like nothing ever happened.
Acne in adults is on the rise. Studies don’t know what is the cause but have noticed this happens more often to women than men. Some scientists suspect the hormones when the female ages but more tests have to be done to make sure this is correct.
It is a good thing that acne can be treated even if the person wanted to take action much later. This is because there are oils and drugs that can be purchased with or without a medical prescription from the doctor.
An example could be oil derived from natural ingredients. There are many in the market and the individual will just apply this to the affected part of the skin so it can be healed. Some of these are Bergamot Oil, Clove Oil, Lavender Oil, Rosewood Oil and Tea Tree Oil.
This can be mixed with water or another type of oil called Grapeseed that has been proven to deliver remarkable results.
There are also skin care products such as soaps, cleansers, moisturizers and repair lotions. The individual applies this to the face one after the other and improvements will be seen in a short period of time.
The cleansing pad or a facial strip can also be used to treat acne. The individual will cut this from the pack then apply this to face. After leaving it on the face for a few minutes to try, this can be peeled off so that the dirt and oil in the face is removed completely.
If this doesn’t work, it is time to use drugs. The doctor does not always have to prescribe this product. This is because these are safe to use without causing any side effects. A few examples of these are retinoic acid, azelaic acid cream, alpha hydroxyl acids, benzoyl peroxide, topical antibiotics and birth control pills.
Some people believe that benzoyl peroxide is the best but this will really depend on the individual’s gender, age and skin, which have a factor in the entire process.
Two examples of those that have to prescribed are Accutane and Sotret. The reason why it has to be recommended by a doctor is because the person may get crack lips or liver dysfunction as one of its side effects. This is also not safe for those who are about to give birth because it is also known to cause birth defects.
Acne may happen in the back, the chest but this is more prevalent on the face. There are currently 17 million Americans who have this problem and this will continue to go up because doctors have not yet found a permanent cure for this disorder.
Until then, people will have to make do with the oils, drugs and pads available until something better has been developed.
