Signs Of Quality Children's Skin Care Products

Baby skin is the most coveted of all vanities – the beauty of a baby's skin is worth keeping – if only it could last a lifetime. Sadly, it doesn't always. With all the factors that rid skin of its natural beauty, there is only so much we can do and starting our kids on a skin regimen, using only quality children's skin care products could do the trick.

Why quality? It's because the skin is at its most sensitive during childhood. About 60% of what we apply onto children's skin is being absorbed into their tissues, so only quality skin care products which contain safe ingredients may ever touch their skin. Natural, organic children's skin care products  are a good bet. These do not contain any chemicals or dyes, so you are sure that all you get from them are nutrients which are good for the body.

Be careful though, not all products labeled “natural” are so. Some ruthless companies jump onto the organic bandwagon and try to sell their products off as “all-natural” or “organic”. So a critical eye is really important, especially in scrutinizing baby products.

1. Quality baby products are those that are dermatologically safe. No one knows baby skin more than those people who specialize in it. Your dermatologist can advise you on the products that you can use for your baby, depending on his skin type and medical history.

2. The baby products you use should be good for all skin types. When it can be used for all skin types, that means that it is safe since it is more or less toxic-free. If you want to be sure, use natural organic baby products. Skin care, through products that do not undergo any commercial production process, is guaranteed to be safe for anyone – especially for your baby's young skin.

3. Quality children's skin care products contain no mineral oil or any synthetic oil of any kind. Mineral oil is a by-product of petroleum and is proven very harmful to young skin. Its danger lies in how it coats the skin, just like plastic, preventing the skin from ridding itself of toxins. Since these toxins can't get out, they accumulate in the skin, affecting cell functions and causing premature aging.

Only essential oils should be used as “preservatives” in your baby's skin care products. These oils are natural extracts from plants like lavender, chamomile and aloe vera, and even fruits like avocado and are proven safe.

4. Children's skin care products of quality do not undergo any animal testing. Usually, commercial products are being harshly tested on animals to find out the dangers of using them. These products are literally being forced into the animals' bodies. If not dying from struggling to be free from pain, these animals suffer from convulsions, skin eruptions and bleeding.

They are subjected to all of these even though it was found out that animals are not a good match to human bodies anyway. So these tests are actually pointless, and spending big bucks for animal cruelty is just not worth it.

Practicing baby skin care the organic way is guaranteed animal-friendly since the effectiveness of these products do not need to be tested. One rule of thumb is: if you can eat it, then it is most certainly safe for your skin.

Practicing baby skin care the organic way, or just simply being critical of the children's skin care products' labels could help ensure that you are not putting your baby at risk with the products you use on him everyday. Being sure is after all, being safe.
