Natural Indian Spices Skin Care – The Ayuverda Way

The Indians have been practicing a 5,000 year old holistic medicine they call Ayurveda. This classic Indian practice aims to bring harmony to all the aspects of a person's life by recognizing the fortifying elements of nature in our life. They incorporate nature into their life through food and medicines in the form of herbs and natural Indian spices. Skin care is also a vital part of this holistic approach to a healthy life, since they believed that the skin reflects the internal health of a person.

Just like how we should only eat healthy foods that are free from any additives and toxins, the Auyudervic medicine calls for a more organic and natural skin care regimen too. The first step  in Ayurvedic skin care is figuring out which skin type you fall into, so that you can apply the specific skin care regimen. The skin types are based on the elements: water, air, earth, fire and space.

The first skin type is called Vata. It is composed of the elements of  air and space. This skin-type tends to be generally dry, with fine pores, delicate, cool to the touch and easily dehydrated. Good, balanced Vata skin is glowing and refined, while one that is lacking in harmony is dry, flaky and rough.

Those falling in this skin type tend to get the symptoms of aging earlier – the skin's dry characteristics tend to make it age early. That is why the main concern of those falling under this skin type is keeping their skin moisturized. Massage your body with essential oils, that may be combined with other herbs and natural Indian spices. Skin care for this skin type should be free of alcohol-based products which tend to dry skin.

If you have fair, soft, warm, medium-thick skin, then you probably fall under the Pitta skin type. Pitta skin is said to be composed of the elements of fire and water and if these two elements balance out, you will enjoy a beautiful, rosy or golden complexion. However, this skin type is said to have less tolerance for heat, especially the sun. So, they usually flare up with rashes, freckles, pigmentation or acne.

It is advised for people with Pitta skin-types to strictly stick to using organic and natural skin care products, since those that are commercially produced contain synthetic chemicals, artificial colors and preservatives. These can be abrasive and heating – to which Pitta skin-types are prone to react.

The last skin type is known as Kapha. This is composed of earth and water elements. Skin of this type is characteristically thick, oily, soft and cool to the touch. Because of this, they are lucky to suffer wrinkles only later in life. However, due to their skin-type, they are also more prone to accumulating toxins under their skin.

With the suggested use of natural Indian spices, skin care  for those with this skin type requires regular detoxification in order to remove the toxin build-up in their skin. This can be achieved through a more organic and natural skin care routine that involves exfoliation and moisturization.

Whatever skin type you're in, what the Ayurvedic practice basically calls for is an organic skin care routine through the use of essential oils, herbs and natural Indian spices. Skin care following this classic Indian practice can guarantee you the perfect skin that you deserve – one that shows a balance between the elements that are naturally a part of you.
