Could Plain Antibiotics And Topical Treatments For Staph Infections Beat The Superbug?

The infections brought about by the Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria are at an all-time high, especially among people staying in one place like schools, dorms and hospitals. This is because these bacteria  are highly contagious and can transfer from one person to another even through just sharing some personal stuff. There's nothing to worry much about though. Generally, staph bacteria are harmless and if they are otherwise, they are zapped out by our  natural immune defenses, if not by antibiotics and topical treatments for staph infections.

However, continued and improper use of an antibiotic for staph infections have triggered these bacteria to build up their defenses against the killing powers of regular antibiotics. A superbug called Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) has begun wreaking havoc on defenseless people – those who have weaker immune systems – especially in hospitals.

There's not much difference between the MRSA and regular staph bacteria symptoms: red, painful pimple-like bumps that contain pus. The only line that divides the two is that regular or natural cures for staph infections don't usually work – neither do regular antibiotics and topical treatments. For staph infections caused by the MRSA bacteria to be cured, a proper diagnosis should be done.

This is because the only effective antibiotic for staph infections of this kind is very toxic. Vancomycin should only be used against an MRSA bacteria infection. However, proper use of this antibiotic for staph infections should also be practiced. MRSA bacteria are continuously evolving and constant interaction with the components of this antibiotic may also make it ineffective due to the bacteria's developed immunity. Then, we may have nothing left to rid us of these bacteria any more.

Researchers found hope in using natural remedies for staph infection, particularly in essential oils. They work well as natural cures for staph infections, especially those caused by MRSA bacteria. The University of Manchester conducted studies about this and found out that even with just two minutes of contact, MRSA bacteria and even E.coli and fungi, are wiped out.

Essential oils are extracted from aromatic plants which use these oils to fight off infections in nature.  They work well as natural cures for staph infections and better than regular antibiotics and topical treatments for staph infections since, unlike these treatments, the chemical compounds that make up essential oils are so complex that the MRSA bacteria can not resist them.

Tea tree oil is widely known as one of the most effective natural topical treatments for staph infections. This natural cure from down under is effective in treating infections all over. With its ability to deeply penetrate the skin layers, it destroys bacteria on contact. In fact with just a 0.5 solution of this oil, 60 strains of the superbug are destroyed. It doesn't stop there, it also continues to block the growth of bacteria for several days after application.

Other scientists also found the use of probiotics as possible natural remedies for staph infection. They even believe that people, especially those working at hospitals, are better off washing their hands with yogurt than antibacterial hand soaps. They argue that when washing the hands, bacteria are washed off but the act just leaves other more harmful bacteria like the MRSA to settle in their place instead. When using probiotic solutions however, harmless bacteria will settle on the skin and keep harmful bacteria from invading.

MRSA bacteria can still be eliminated with the proper antibiotics and natural topical treatments for staph infections. As always, the proper use of these medications always yields the desired results.
